Los The legitimizing discourses of the liberalization model of the economy in Argentina and Peru in the 90's
Abstract
The 90's marked a shift in the economic policy of Latin American countries, this occurred in both the cases of Peru and Argentina. These two countries went through an economic crisis in which hyperinflation wreaked havoc on the standard of living of the population of these countries.
During the crisis, the new political elite understood that the ideology of neoliberalism and its recipes were the answer to a convulsive local and international scenario. Through these elites, a legitimizing discourse of the reforms based on the precepts of neoliberalism was raised as justifications for the new economic policy, as well as the changes within future policies. The legacy of the speeches enunciated during this period was maintained for a long time. The argumentative lines were based on the denunciation of the State and the revaluation of the private sphere as support for the disarticulation of the previous model.
