Self-determination of the peoples and the right to development of the Shipibo-Konibo community in the Cantagallo-Rímac settlement. Lima Peru
Abstract
Objective is to establish the exercise of self-determination as a right of the peoples to their autonomy
and sovereignty, to determine philosophical-political principles, in order to legitimize, through a
nationalist and democratic analysis, the right that assists minority nations; as members of a
Democratic State, in order to achieve their development, social, economic and cultural. In this
context, we focus on the self-determination of the Shipibo-Konibo community, from Cantagallo, in
the Rímac district in 2019; who since they settled in this area, strive to preserve their cultural, customs
and traditional features and their native language.
In the research, the ethnographic methodology was used, structuring the examples and antecedents,
found in the database of different indexed journals of scientific rigor, only in Spanish, with an
antiquity of 5 years.
The results showed that despite slight changes in the individual behavior of some members of the
community influenced by modernity; however, the majority retain their ethnographic identity, their
native language, their culture and customs.

By way of discussion, it was found that the Shipibo-Konibo community, from Cantagallo, is in a
situation of inequality of political, social, economic and cultural rights and, it is the obligation of the
central, regional government, to make these rights prevail in their favor by being a fundamental right
enshrined in the Magna Carta and in the International Human Rights Treaties.
